Home Sweet Home for Volleyball against Southwestern

ADA, Okla. – For the second straight match at the Kerr Activities Center, the East Central University volleyball team claimed a five-set win.  This time the Tigers (4-9, 2-1 GAC) took down Southwestern Oklahoma State, 3-2 (25-18, 17-25, 17-25, 15-18, 15-7).

Scoring
  • Set 1: 25-18
    • The teams traded points in the first eight serves
    • ECU used a 3-0 run to take a lead
    • The Bulldogs (6-5, 2-1 GAC) fought back to tie the set at 8
    • ECU again followed with a 2-0 run to take the needed advantage
    • The Tigers kept control of the set, using several small runs to push the lead to as many as seven
  • Set 2: 17-25
    • The teams started with ties at 1, 2 and 3
    • SWOSU went on a 4-1 run to take the lead
    • ECU fought back to tie the set at 12
    • The Bulldogs used a 5-0 run to take control for good and never let the Tigers get closer than three the rest of the set
  • Set 3: 17-25
    • Both teams traded small runs and served until a 15-all tie
    • SWOSU pushed ahead for good with a 5-0 run and finished the set on a 10-2 run
  • Set 4: 25-18
    • The Tigers got behind 6-1 early, and were trailing 8-3
    • ECU went on a 6-0 run to take a 9-8 advantage
    • A battle resumed for the next three points (12-12)
    • The Tigers countered with a 3-0 run to give them the lead for good
  • Set 5: 15-7
    • ECU jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never let the Bulldogs get closer than three during the set
    • The Tigers rattled off a 6-2 run in the final points to take the match victory
