WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The East Central University women's soccer team traveled to Weatherford, Oklahoma for a GAC matchup, falling 5-1 to the top team in the conference.
Alexis Perez was first to attack for the Tigers with a shot in the third minute of the game. The Bulldogs were quick to answer back with five shots, the fifth one being good for a goal to take the lead 1-0. SWOSU continued to press offensively and defensively as they shot five more times before landing their second goal while ECU could not position themselves to score. The Tigers almost went into halftime down by two until
Abbie Morris found the back of the net with five minutes left in the half to put them on the scoreboard.
The Bulldogs started off the shooting in the second half at the 47:30 minute-mark. A minute later
Paige Jones tried to tie the game, but the shot was saved by the SWOSU keeper. The Bulldogs found another opportunity to score in the 54
th to put them up 3-1. SWOSU would eventually pull away and take full control of the game when they put up two more goals by the 83
rd minute.
Kaylee Bruce and
Reyvyn Grimaldo took one more shot each for ECU, but SWOSU would solidify the game 5-1 in the end.
SWOSU outshot ECU with 23 shots total and eight on goal while the defense limited the Tigers to just seven shots and four on target.
The East Central University women's soccer team will hit the road again Saturday, Oct. 15 to face Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK at 11 a.m.
