ECU Competes in First Ever Powerlifting Meet

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The inaugural ECU Tigers Powerlifting Team competed in its first-ever meet sanctioned by the United States of America Powerlifting (USAPL) on Nov. 12, 2022.

East Central saw freshman Jacob Smith, Briana Perez, and Ada Cougar turned ECU Tiger Dylan Crook all finish first in their respective division. The Tigers also had a second-place finisher Myles Branson and a third-place finisher Luke West.
 
Smith took home first place and qualified for nationals in the men's 132lb weight class with a 325lb squat, 165lb bench press, and 365lb deadlift.
 
Perez was the top lifter in the 220lb women's division with a 315lb squat, 145lb bench, and 315lb deadlift.
 
Crook placed first in the men's 308lb weight class with a 550lb squat and a 490lb deadlift.  
 
Branson finished second in the men's 242lb weight class with a 507lb squat, 316lb bench press, and 445lb deadlift.
 
West finished third in the men's 242lb weight class with a 435lb squat, 297lb bench press, and a 475lb deadlift.
 
The East Central University Powerlifting Team will compete in the Annual Heart of Texas USA Powerlifting Meet Saturday, March 25, 2023, in Waco, TX.
