Edmond, Okla. – The East Central University women's soccer team lost a 4-2 decision on Friday against Central Oklahoma at Tom Thompson Field. ECU is now 0-2-1 on the season.
"Our ladies fought hard and battled a great opponent in less than ideal field conditions," Head Coach
Riley Bailey said. "We were resilient and never gave up so I'm proud of our effort."
The Tigers had two players score in yesterday's contest –
Olivia Witte and
Alexis Perez. After the Bronchos made the first goal to take a 1-0 lead in the first half, Witte answered back with a shot in the 40
th minute off an assist from
Isabella Lopez to tie the score 1-1 at halftime. This is the first goal of the season for Witte.
UCO found the net early in the second half adding another goal within 3 minutes of resuming play. Just nine minutes later ECU answered back once again, this time from Perez who garnered her first goal of the season to tie it up 2-2.
The Tigers held firm in the matchup, but two more goals by the Bronchos secured their victory 4-2.
McKenna Leveling played 90:00 minutes in goal Friday night and made 5 saves.
The East Central University women's soccer team will next face Lubbock Christian University Sunday, Sept. 4 at 1 p.m. in Lubbock, TX.
