ECU Powerlifting Wins Six Medals in Second Ever Competition
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The inaugural ECU Tigers Powerlifting Team competed Brewhouse Barbell in Oklahoma City on Jan. 21st in its second-ever meet sanctioned by the United States of America Powerlifting (USAPL).

ECU took six athletes to compete, and five out of the six medaled in their weight class.
Byron Cox competed in the Collegiate 140+ Kg weight class, where he placed first with a 577 Kg total.
Seeker Samara and
Myles Branson participated in the same weight class (110 Kg) where Branson got fourth with a 564 Kg total and Samara placed first with a 665 Kg total.
Caden Pickens placed first in the men's 90 KG Collegiate weight class with a 618 KG total. He missed the national qualifying total by 12 Kgs.
Briana Perez placed second in the 100+ Kg weight class with a 350 Kg total while missing the qualifying number by only 10 Kgs.
Amree Wingfield took home a first-place medal as well as qualifying for Nationals with her openers in the 100 Kg weight class and hit a total of 370 Kg.
All together as a team, the Tigers had three National qualifiers.

"Next year we hope to not just double this number but triple and possibly get some All-Americans in the mix," Head Powerlifting Coach Allison Nally said. "East Central Powerlifting will continue to do great things as we continue to get stronger!"
