Women’s Cross Country Posts Third Place Finish at DBU
DALLAS, Texas – The East Central University women's cross country team traveled to Dallas, Texas for the annual Old Glory Gallup on Saturday, taking third place in the women's 5k for a score of 100. Their score was just three points shy of Oklahoma Baptist, who finished second while Dallas Baptist won on their home course with 34 points.

"Both teams competed really well this weekend," Head Coach
Steve Sawyer said. "It seems as if we are starting to sharpen up at the right time. We do need to lessen the gap between 4-5 on both the men's and women's teams. If we can do that, we will be tough to beat."
The Tigers had three runners in the top 10 –
Aurelia Jepkorir,
Sheilah Cheruiyot, and
Naomy Limatukei.
Kepkorir led the way for ECU, crossing the finish line in sixth place with a time of 17:57.9. Cheruiyot followed closely behind in ninth, completing the race in 18:02.2 while Limatukei secured the 10
th spot at the 18:03.3 mark.
The Tigers finished strong with
Abigael Kemboi who placed 12
th in a time of 18:04.6. Rounding out the scores was
Sharon Jesang (70
th – 19:27.9), and
Madison Ham (86
th – 19:42.4).
The ECU women's cross country team is set to kick off its postseason campaign on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Great American Conference Championship in Russellville, Arkansas.
