ADA, Okla. – The East Central University soccer team jumped out to an early one-goal lead, but it would not hold as Ouachita Baptist University rallied from behind for a 2-1 win in the orange Tigers' final home regular season contest at Tiger Soccer Field on Wednesday.
Lorianne Baugh scored the lone goal of the game for the orange Tigers from the pass of
Olivia Witte, giving the home team the 1-0 advantage in the 24
th minute. The GAC-leading purple Tigers fired off four shots in the final minutes leading into halftime to get on the scoreboard, but two big saves from
McKenna Leveling kept the score 1-0 at the break.
Coming out of halftime, Ouachita Baptist turned up their offensive pressure, scoring the equalizer goal in the 51
st minute before sending in the game-winner to the back of the net just four minutes later to quickly put the purple Tigers ahead 2-1 for good.
ECU tallied 18 shots to Ouachita's 22 in the game. The orange Tigers also trailed in shots on goal, 16 to five, and corners, seven to two.
Lorianne Baugh recorded her first goal of the season and fourth goal of her career while
McKenna Leveling played the entire 90 minutes and registered a season-high 14 saves.
The ECU soccer team will play their final match of the 2023 season on the road in Searcy, Arkansas when they take on Harding University on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 9 a.m.
