ADA, Okla. – The East Central University women's basketball team wrapped up their non-conference schedule on a commanding note, securing a resounding 97-30 victory against Dallas Christian College on Tuesday night in the Kerr Activities Center.
The win improves the Tigers to 4-3 overall.
"Excited we got back in the win column," Head Coach Heather Hurt said. "Our team gained confidence and executed better than we have been. Defensively we were disciplined and did a good job keeping them in front and rebounding."
The staggering 67-point victory margin surpasses the Tigers' previous season-high of 60 points in their season opener against Ecclesia College where they cruised past the Royals 76-16.
ECU had a dominant performance on both sides of the ball, putting up 97 points – marking the highest score in a single game since November 25, 2014 when the Tigers defeated Cameron 90-81 – while grabbing an impressive 43 rebounds.
Four Tigers scored in double figures with three narrowly missing the mark by just one basket. Impressively, all 11 ECU players who saw action contributed at least one field goal.
Natalie Payne led the way with a career-high 23 points and seven rebounds.
Makenzy Herman was next with a personal best of 12 points while
Kate Ogle was close behind with 10 points.
Alexus Belcher not only notched a career-high 10 points but also secured a team-high nine rebounds and six assists.
The ECU women's basketball team will hit the road to Shawnee this weekend to take on Oklahoma Baptist University on Saturday, December 16 at 5:30 pm.
