Baseball Falls to Northeastern

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The East Central University baseball team faced Northeastern State University on Day 2 of the Dugan Invitational, losing to the Riverhawks by a final score of 14-2.
 
The Riverhawks wasted no time getting on the board as their leadoff hitter reached on an error and then scored on a double to right center.
 
ECU rallied for two runs in the bottom of the third to go up 2-1.
 
Carson Thomas singled up the middle to open the inning, then stole second to get in scoring position. Tucker Abney drew a walk to put runners on first and second. Thomas and Abney then advanced to second and third on a stolen base. Consecutive RBI ground outs from Nolan Herchock and Mason Glowacki drove in the Tiger runners to give ECU its first lead.
 
Northeastern scored single runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh to take a 4-2 lead after seven innings.
 
The Riverhawks broke open the game in the eighth inning, scoring 10 runs on four walks and eight hits against the Tiger bullpen.
 
Starting pitcher Chris Jackson threw 4 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and striking out two.
 
Reliever Drake Sisemore took the loss, giving up two runs on three hits in 1 2/3 innings.
 
Other Tigers that saw action on the mound include Bryce Crawford, Colt Bartling, Kort McCurtain, Jagger Green, Clayton Solomon, Justin Chitty, Brian Pasha, and Chase Owen.
 
Tanner Collins, Cooper Hunt, Michael Rosario, Carson Thomas, and Dione Allen all recorded a hit in the game. Herchock and Glowacki had an RBI each.
 
The East Central University baseball team will conclude the Dugan Invitational with a game against Northwest Missouri State Sunday, Feb. 5th at 1 p.m.
