Track & Field Compete at Bryan Clay & Sooner Invitational
ADA, Okla. – The East Central University men's track & field teams had a busy weekend splitting squads at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California and the Sonner Invitational in Norman, Oklahoma.
Aspel Kiprob,
Oliver Kiptoo, and
Amos Pkiach claimed NCAA DII provisional marks for the Tigers while Miles Davis and Kiprob set new ECU records in their respective events.

Kiprob recorded a personal-best time of 14:06.82 in the 5000m run to place fifth in the fourth heat of the Open A races. His time broke the previous ECU 5000m record of 14:13.94, which he set just two weeks ago at the Friends University Invitational.
Kiptoo also set a new personal best in the 5,000m run with a time of 14:16.34 for a 15
th place finish in the same heat.
Kiprob and Kiptoo are currently sitting at No. 1 and No. 2 in the GAC.
Pkiach was the lone Tiger competing in the 10,000m run and clocked a time of 30:04.67 to place 18
th. He set the ECU and GAC record last season with a time of 29:54.60 at the 2022 Championships in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Miles Davis notched a fifth-place finish with a 7.25m jump en route to setting an ECU school record in the long jump, just 0.02m shy of an NCAA DII provisional standard. His mark places him No. 3 in the GAC.
Jaxon Merchant and
Jebediah Owen represented the Tigers in both the shot put and discus throw. Merchant finished 18
th (12.24m) and 20
th (37.41m) while Owen placed 20
th (11.11m) and 22
nd (35.51m), respectively.
AiJon Jones and
Seth Ferguson placed 39
th (51.63) and 43
rd (55.36) in the 400m run.
The East Central University track & field teams will return to Norman, Oklahoma this weekend for the John Jacobs Invitational April 21-22.
