Track & Field Closes Regular Season Action in Norman
NORMAN, Okla. – In the last meet of the 2023 regular season, the East Central University men's and women's track & field teams had 18 top-20 finishes, five top-10 finishes, and one first-place finish at the John Jacob's Invitational in Norman, Oklahoma this weekend.

Miles Davis highlighted the men's side winning the long jump with a leap of 7.09m (23-03.25) for his first event win of his track career. He currently sits at No. 3 in the GAC in the long jump and is one of the favorites to win at the Track & Field Championships in Searcy, Arkansas.
Michael Iyali had the second-best finish for the Tigers in Norman as he placed fourth in the 1500m with a time of 4:03.59 and 10
th in the 800m with a mark of 2:00.80.
Zander Wood and
Elijah Bloyed also competed in the 800m and crossed the line at 2:04.13 and 2:11.34 for a 15
th and 19
th place finish, respectively.
On the women's side,
Kaylyn Cotner highlighted the field events with a 4
th place finish with a leap of 1.53m (5-00.25), a new personal best for the freshman.
Abigael Kemboi had the best finish in the runner events, placing 6
th overall in the 1500m with a time of 4:50.72 and 13
th in the 800m in a time of 2:25.31.
Sharon Jesang also competed in both the 1500m and 800m, finishing 20
th and 18
th with a time of 5:12.76 and 2:34.62.
The East Central University track & field teams will now get ready for the 2023 Great American Conference Championships May 4-6 hosted by Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.
