Roshek Named GAC Defensive Player of the Week
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the volleyball players of the week for week three of the 2023 season, and freshman libero
Sydney Roshek was selected as the league's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Roshek earns her first conference honor after pacing the ECU defense for a 2-1 record this past week.
In three matches against Southern Nazarene, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, and Southwest Baptist, Roshek anchored the Tigers' back row, accumulating 68 digs and a GAC-leading 6.18 digs per set. She tallied 17 digs in ECU's season opener against SNU, followed by 16 in a three-set sweep against USAO. But her best performance came against SBU when she totaled 35 digs, her best mark of the year, in a thrilling five-set reverse sweep.
The Woodland Park, Colorado native also added five services aces, including a season-high four against USAO.
Roshek and the Tigers will return to GAC action tomorrow as they prepare to host SWOSU at 6 pm inside the Kerr Activities Center.
