DENTON, Texas – The East Central University soccer team made their last stop to Texas to face Texas Woman's University for their third non-conference match of the season, eventually falling 2-0 to the Pioneers Tuesday night.
TWU came out hot in the opening period, firing 19 shots to give them multiple chances to score.
Claudia Garcia and
Cambori Watson each took a shot to try and put the Tigers up, but both were saved by the Pioneer keeper. TWU's offense did not let up, but goalkeeper Linea Anderson recorded nine saves in the first 45 minutes to keep the Tigers in the game.
In the second half, the Pioneers continued taking shots one after the other until finally reaching the back of the net in the 74
th minute for the 1-0 lead. But after three back-to-back shots from TWU, over the next minute, TWU found a way to score one more time for the 2-0 victory over the Tigers.
Tanja Bauboeck and
Cambori Watson led the Tigers with two shots each while Olivia Wittte and
Claudia Garcia had one.
The East Central University soccer team will return to Ada for their home opener against the University of Texas at Tyler on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1 pm.
