RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference released its final Volleyball Player of the Week awards, and East Central University's Odalys Gonzalez and Julia Kabala claimed two of the three honors, wrapping up the 2024 regular season on a high note as they head into this week's GAC Championships.

Gonzalez earned Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, having previously received the honor in the second week of the year, while Kabala secured her third weekly title of the season.

Both players played pivotal roles in the Tigers' perfect 2-0 week, helping ECU to 3-1 victories over Oklahoma Baptist University and Southern Nazarene University.

Gonzalez delivered a career-high 23 kills and added 17 digs in the Tigers' victory over Oklahoma Baptist, securing their 16th win of the season and breaking the program record for most wins in a single season. She carried that momentum into ECU's final regular-season match against Southern Nazarene, leading the team with 21 kills to help the Tigers clinch the No. 3 seed in the GAC Championships, matching their highest-ever seeding in program history.

Kabala was also instrumental in the Tigers' success, recording 105 assists (an average of 13.125) and 31 digs across the two matches. She currently ranks fourth in the GAC in assists (9.85/set) and second in service aces with 46. Kabala's two double-doubles this past week bring her season total to 15.

With the regular season behind them, the ECU volleyball team is now focused on the 2024 GAC Championships, where they will face rival Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m.
