Soccer Holds Strong for 1-1 Draw Against SNU

BETHANY, Okla. – The East Central University soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw versus Southern Nazarene University on Friday night under the lights at Wes Harmon Field. Despite the game being rescheduled due to weather conditions, the Tigers did not fret, improving their GAC record to 4-4-3, trailing just one point behind first place.

The Tigers got their lone goal of the game from senior Abbie Morris, who intercepted a Crimson Storm pass and firing it into the bottom right corner in the 15th minute. This marked her fifth goal of the season, making her the team's and the GAC's leading scorer.

Morris' goal put ECU ahead 1-0 early, but the lead was short-lived. SNU quickly equalized just two minutes later, leaving the score tied at halftime.

The second half saw both teams' defense hold firm, limiting the amount of shots taken compared to the first half. Both sides managed to fend off any attacks throughout the final 45 minutes, resulting in a stalemate.

Kaylee Bruce led the offensive charge recording six shots, three on goal, while Abbie Morris added two shots and the Tigers' only goal. Madison Mayhall notched six saves in the full 90 minutes in goal to help secure the tie.

The ECU soccer team will have one final regular-season contest against Harding University on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Searcy, Arkansas, as they fight for a spot in the GAC tournament.
