ADA, Okla. – The East Central University softball team hosted a rivalry doubleheader against Southeastern Oklahoma State University for their second homestand of the season, unfortunately dropping both ends of the doubleheader in a close 7-5 game one before succumbing to a 10-0 run-rule defeat in game two.
The Tigers will be back in action at Tiger Field this weekend with another GAC series against Ouachita Baptist University beginning Friday, March 15 at 2 pm.
Southeastern got their bats going quickly in game one as they raced out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning before extending it to 3-0 after another run in the second pushed their advantage.
The Tigers answered in the home half with a run thanks to
Cheyenne Adair's RBI double that plated
Jami Watson to cut the deficit to 3-1, but the Storm pulled away again in the fourth inning with two runs to cushion their lead to 5-1.
ECU responded once again, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth after
Megan Lesko sent a two-run bomb to left field, narrowing the gap to 5-3.
After Southeastern added a run in the fifth inning and one in the sixth to go up 7-3, ECU rallied in the bottom of the sixth, plating two runs courtesy of RBI singles from
McKinley Feazle and
Cara Duncan to pull within two runs at 7-5. However, the Tigers could not complete the comeback in the seventh inning with the bases loaded, resulting in the 7-5 defeat.
