RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced its women's soccer Player of the Week awards, and East Central University's Brooklyn Meisner and Ximena Resendiz were awarded Offensive Player and Defender of the Week honors, respectively.

Meisner earns her first GAC Offensive Player of the Week honor after netting the decisive goal in ECU's 2-0 victory over Texas Woman's University in their season opener on Thursday. She broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute with a well-placed shot, assisted by Emily Cavazos. Just three minutes later, the Tigers added an insurance goal to clinch the win, marking head coach Alyssa Taramona's first victory of the season.

Rezendiz, in her debut season at ECU, claimed her first conference Defender of the Week accolade for her stellar defensive play. She anchored the back line that shut out TWU, securing the Tigers' first clean sheet of the season. Resendiz played all 180 minutes across both matches last week, contributing to the team's strong defense and assisting on Abbie Morris' second-half goal against UT Tyler.

The ECU soccer team will continue their non conference schedule, traveling to Pittsburg, Kansas to take on Pittsburg State on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 3 pm before returning to Ada for their first home match of the season against Angelo State on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 1 pm.
