Cross Country Opens Season at SNU Invitational
BETHANY, Okla. – The East Central University cross country teams opened up the 2024 season at the Southern Nazarene University Invitational inside Eldon Lyon Park. The women's team finished in third with a score of 60, while the men's team placed fourth with 83 points.

The Tigers competed against five other Oklahoma Schools, including Southern Nazarene, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Christian, Southwestern, and Mid-America Christian.
In the women's two-mile race,
Stephanie Ojo made a notable collegiate debut, finishing fifth with a time of 12:51.20. Teammates
Sharon Jesang closely followed, taking sixth place crossing the line in a time of 12:52.45 while
Cadence Carlos also finished in the top-10 in her first race as a Tiger, clocking in a at 13:34.93. Other ECU finishers included
Brylee Baird, who placed 18
th with her time of 14:08.94, and
Lindsey Mauppin, who took 21
st with a time of 14:15.94.
On the men's side, in the 5k race,
Aidan Wells led the Tigers with a fifth-place finish with a time of 16:18.7.
Maverick Stephenson also claimed a top-10 spot, finishing seventh with a time of 16:34.3 while
AJ Gustin rounded out the top-15 with a 12
th- place finish in 16:45.7.
Joshua Robertson,
Huston Holder,
Harley Cobb,
Ladon Vance, and
Brayden Hill completed the race for the Tigers coming in 30
th (17:43.9), 31
st (17:45.2), 32
nd (17:51.7), 35
th (18:00.4), and 46
th (19:32.7), respectively.
The ECU cross country team will now prepare for the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin on Friday, Sept. 20.
