Williams Named GAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced its weekly award winners for Week 11 of the 2024-25 season on Monday, with East Central University's
Nikk Williams earning Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week honors, alongside Southern Nazarene's Stevie Strong.
This marks Williams' first career weekly accolade and the first for the Tigers since
Keyon Thomas received the recognition in Week 1 of the 2022-23 season.
Despite ECU men's basketball facing an 0-2 week and contending with ongoing injuries, Williams has been a pivotal force in driving the Tiger offense and anchoring the defense with the team's most rebounds.
In the game against Southeastern, Williams was a key figure in the Tigers' comeback effort, setting a career high with 31 points on an impressive 13-of-18 shooting. He narrowly missed a triple-double, adding eight rebounds and nine assists, five of which came from teammate
Ryan Kelly, who caught fire with six consecutive three-pointers.
Against Northwestern, Williams once again led the offense with 20 points, shooting 8-of-14 from the field, and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, nearly posting a double-double. He also totaled three blocks across both games and went 7-of-9 from the free-throw line.
Currently, Williams ranks third in the GAC in blocked shots (1.1 avg/g), sixth in rebounding (6.7 avg/g), 11th in assists (3.1 avg/g), and 17th in scoring (12.8 avg).
