Kennedy Named GAC Offensive Player of the Week
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference has announced its Players of the Week for week six of the 2025 football season, with East Central University quarterback
Sergio Kennedy earning Offensive Player of the Week honors after a career-best performance that powered the Tigers to a 37–21 win over Arkansas Tech University.
This marks the first GAC weekly honor of Kennedy's career and the second this season for ECU.
The redshirt sophomore from Arlington, TX, was a standout, completing 23 of 34 passes for a career-high 370 yards and two touchdowns, including a 61-yard strike to open the scoring for the Tigers. He also added a touchdown in style, hauling in a 9-yard reception on a trick play from teammate
Cade Searcy to cap off ECU's final scoring drive.
Through six weeks, Kennedy ranks No. 3 in the GAC in both passing yards (1,266) and total offense (1,317 yards).
Kennedy and the Tigers return to Koi Ishto Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 18, to host Oklahoma Baptist for ECU's Homecoming Game. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
