Donald Kipsang and Winnie Kipsang Earn Second GAC Runners of the Week Honor
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference has named East Central University's
Donald Kipsang and
Winnie Kipsang as the GAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week following standout performances at the Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas.
This marks the second GAC weekly honor for both athletes, who continued to lead the Tigers with impressive showings against a highly competitive field.
Donald paced the ECU men's team with a time of 24:41.8 in the 8K, finishing 26th overall and seventh among Division II runners. It was his third straight meet as the Tigers' top finisher. The Tigers placed seventh overall in a deep 30-team field that included 12 Division I programs.
On the women's side, Winnie posted a personal-best 5K time of 17:30.4, finishing 35th overall out of 269 runners. She shaved nearly 15 seconds off her previous performance and placed third among Division II runners, just two seconds behind the top DII finisher. The ECU women secured sixth place among the Division II squads.
With the regular season wrapped up, the Tigers now turn their focus to the Great American Conference Championships, hosted by the University of Arkansas at Monticello on Saturday, October 25.
