Joseph Quiray Elevated to Head Soccer Coach
ADA, Okla. – East Central University Athletics is proud to announce the promotion of Joseph Quiray to the position of Head Soccer Coach. After serving as an assistant coach this past season and later as Interim Head Coach, Quiray has consistently demonstrated his dedication and commitment to the growth and success of the women's soccer program.
"By removing the interim tag and naming Joseph Quiray the official head coach, ECU women's soccer gains a stabilizing leader whose steady approach and clear vision position the program for sustained growth," said ECU Athletic Director Matt Cole.
During his time as assistant coach, Quiray played a key role in the team's progress both on and off the field. Last season, he coached two All-GAC Team selections, one GAC Elite Scholar Athlete, and five student-athletes who earned placement on the GAC Academic Honor Roll.
"In my short time at ECU, I've had the opportunity to work with a great group of players who I truly believe in," Quiray said. "Our season didn't end the way we hoped, but I'm confident we can build something special here. The goal isn't just to win a few more games. I want to develop this program into a true powerhouse that can compete with anyone."
Prior to joining ECU, Quiray spent seven seasons at the University of Dallas (2018–2024), where he served as an assistant coach for the women's soccer program. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in shaping the team's tactical approach, player development, and recruiting efforts. He helped guide the program to five Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament appearances and a trip to the SCAC championship match. In Spring 2025, he served as the acting head coach, overseeing training, recruiting, and all aspects of player management.
"I'm grateful to have found a place where I can fulfill my dream of becoming a collegiate head coach. There is a lot of work ahead, and I'm looking forward to every moment of it."
