ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The East Central University softball team traveled to Arkansas for their first Great American Conference series of the 2025 season against Ouachita Baptist University. After dropping the opening game 9-4, ECU bounced back in game two with a 7-3 victory to split the doubleheader. The series winner will be decided tomorrow in a 1 p.m. matchup, featuring a battle of the Tigers.
GAME 1 | ECU 4, OUA 9
ECU struck first in the opening game, with
McKinley Feazle driving in
Shayne Roberts with an RBI double in the second inning to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. However, Ouachita Baptist responded in the bottom of the inning, tying the game with a sacrifice bunt.
After a scoreless third, the purple Tigers took control in the fourth, erupting for seven runs on five hits and one ECU error to take an 8-1 lead.
ECU fought back in the fifth, as
Amiah Galcatcher launched a three-run home run, cutting the deficit to 8-4. But Ouachita Baptist answered with an insurance run in the bottom half of the inning and held the ECU Tigers scoreless in the final two frames, securing the 9-4 win.
Taylor Spence started in the circle, throwing three innings, while
Lindsey Mauppin took the loss in relief.
Chloe Williams pitched the final 2.2 innings.
Elyse LeClair and
McKinley Feazle both went 2-for-3 at the plate, and
Amiah Galcatcher recorded her fourth home run of the season with three RBIs.
GAME 2 | ECU 7, OUA 3
Ouachita Baptist jumped ahead early in game two, scoring a run in the first inning on two hits for a 1-0 lead.
ECU responded in the third, though, exploding for five runs on five hits and taking advantage of two Ouachita errors.
Elyse LeClair's two-RBI single scored
Abbey Strong and
Rylynn Truett, followed by
Caton Muncy's RBI single to plate
Carsyn Cox, giving ECU a 3-1 lead.
Shayne Roberts then drove in LeClair with an RBI single, and
McKinley Feazle's RBI single allowed
Amiah Galcatcher to score, stretching the lead to 5-1.
Ouachita answered with a run in the bottom of the third, but ECU added two more in the fourth when Galcatcher crushed a two-run homer to left-center, her second of the game, to make it 7-2.
The purple Tigers added one more in the sixth, but ECU shut them down in the seventh, sealing the 7-3 victory.
Amera Garner pitched a complete game for her second win of the season, allowing three runs on six hits.
Elyse LeClair,
Caton Muncy, and
McKinley Feazle each went 2-for-4 at the plate, while LeClair and
Amiah Galcatcher drove in two RBIs apiece. Galcatcher also notched her fifth home run of the season.
