Softball Falls to Harding in Series Finale

ADA, Okla. – The East Central University softball team faced off against Harding University in the final game of their GAC series on Sunday. Despite a their effort, the Tigers were unable to overcome the Bisons, who held a slight lead throughout the game to complete the series sweep at Tiger Softball Field.
 
With the loss, ECU drops to 12-13 overall and 5-9 in GAC play, while Harding improves to an impressive 13-1 in conference action.
 
The game began with a scoreless first inning, but Harding struck first in the second, taking a 1-0 lead with a single run.
 
The Tigers struggled to find their rhythm offensively, failing to record their first hit until the fourth inning, when Amiah Galcatcher singled to right field.
 
Harding extended their lead in the fifth inning, adding another run on a single hit to go up 2-0.
 
ECU's offense began to show some life in the bottom of the fifth with back-to-back singles from Abbey Strong and McKinley Feazle. However, the Tigers were unable to capitalize on the scoring opportunity, keeping the score at 2-0.
 
The Tigers came close to breaking through in the sixth inning when Elyse LeClair and Caton Muncy both recorded singles, but a critical strikeout ended the rally. In the final frame, Harding's defense held firm, retiring the Tigers in order to secure the series sweep.
 
Brooklyn Charnock pitched a complete 7.0 innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits, but took the loss.
 
Elyse LeClair, Amiah Galcatcher, Caton Muncy, Abbey Strong, and McKinley Feazle each tallied a hit in the game.
 
The ECU softball team will hit the road next week for a GAC series against Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas.
