Lecrone Captures First in High Jump to Highlight Track & Field’s Weekend at KT Woodman Classic
WICHITA, Kan. – The East Central University men's and women's track & field teams put together strong efforts and notable finishes at the KT Woodman Classic in Wichita, Kansas. The Tigers were led by freshman
Lexii Lecrone, who earned first place in the women's high jump, and senior
Melvin Kipkemboi, who ran to a fourth-place finish in the men's 5000 meters.

Women's Highlights
Lecrone cleared 1.60m (5'3") to win the women's high jump, with sophomore
Zoe Grooms placing fourth at 1.55m (5'1"), a new season-best, and
Kaylyn Cotner finishing ninth at 1.50m (4'11"). Freshman
Abigail Jones also impressed in the women's discus, placing 22nd with a throw of 37.70m (123' 8").
In the distance events,
Madison Ham had the top women's finish on the track, placing 33rd in the 5000 meters with a time of 19:04.56. The Tigers had a solid showing in the 1500 meters as well, led by
Sheilah Cheruiyot (5:12.97, 58th) and
Naomy Limatukei (5:14.55, 59th), followed closely by teammates
Brenda Jepkoech and
Carolyne Kimaiyo.
Stephanie Ojo posted ECU's fastest 800-meter time on the women's side, placing 52nd in 2:32.27.
In sprints,
Jordan Blades and
Jolee McIntyre competed in the 100 meters, posting times of 13.53 and 13.61, respectively. Carli LeForce clocked in a time of 1:05.45 in the 400 meters.
Men's Highlights
ECU's strongest men's result came in the 5000 meters, where
Melvin Kipkemboi placed fourth overall with a time of 14:31.54. He was joined in the top 20 by
Amos Pkiach (9th, 14:49.29),
Paul Korir (16th, 14:59.80),
Oliver Kiptoo (19th, 15:01.59), with
Aidan Wells and
Maverick Stephenson rounding out ECU's depth.
In the men's 1500 meters,
Harley Cobb led the Tigers with a time of 4:16.41 to place 65th, followed by
Joshua Robertson,
AJ Gustin, and Ladon Vance.
In middle-distance action, Robertson also ran 2:08.24 in the 800 meters, narrowly edging out teammate
Huston Holder (2:08.55).
Elijah Bloyed followed in 2:14.05.
In the sprints,
Curtis Johnson posted ECU's top time in the 100 meters with an 11.10 (77th), while
Nam Grant finished in 11.70.
Jeremiah Rice and
Elijah Bloyed competed in the 400 meters, clocking 54.02 and 58.21 respectively.
In field events, Johnathon Vaughan had a solid showing in the men's discus, placing 21st overall with a PR throw of 43.30m (142'1").
