Softball Pushes to Extras on Senior Day, Edged Out 3-2 in Weather-Delayed Finale

ADA, Okla. – The East Central University softball team closed out their 2025 campaign on Saturday morning, leaving it all on the field in a hard-fought extra-innings battle against Henderson State. Despite multiple lightning delays and tough conditions, the Tigers showed grit and determination, taking the Reddies down to the wire before narrowly falling 3-2 in their season finale at Tiger Softball Field.

The game marked the final appearance for ECU seniors McKinley Feazle, Brooklyn Fleming, Jami Watson, Taylor Spence, Caton Muncy, and Amiah Galcatcher, who were honored postgame for their impactful contributions to the program.

It was a tightly contested matchup from the start, with both teams locked in a pitcher's duel through the early innings. Henderson State broke the scoreless tie in the third, scoring two runs on three hits. However, ECU answered right back, narrowing the gap as Jami Watson delivered an RBI single to center field, bringing home Carsyn Cox.

Following the first lightning delay, the Tigers rallied again in the sixth. Shayne Roberts singled to right, driving in Jaicee Stott to even the score at 2-2. ECU nearly claimed victory in the seventh with the bases loaded and one out, but a pair of flyouts ended the threat and sent the game into extras.

Henderson regained the lead in the eighth before another lightning delay halted play once more. After resuming, ECU held the Reddies scoreless the rest of the inning, but the Tigers were unable to capitalize in their final at-bats.

Senior pitcher Taylor Spence turned in a strong performance in her final outing, going 8.0 innings and allowing just three runs on six hits. Jami Watson led the Tigers offensively, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI. Shayne Roberts and Carsyn Cox also chipped in with key hits.
