Women’s Track & Field Conclude Outdoor Season at GAC Championships
SHAWNEE, Okla. – The East Central University women's track & field team wrapped up the 2025 Great American Conference Outdoor Championships in Shawnee with a mix of veteran scoring efforts and promising performances from the program's younger athletes.

The standout performances came from the long-distance crew, where
Naomy Limatukei led the charge with a 6th-place finish in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:01.87, earning three points for the Tigers. In the 10,000 meters,
Carolyne Kimaiyo and
Sheilah Cheruiyot added to the team's scoring total, finishing 6th (40:06.95) and 8th (40:13.94) respectively, combining for four more points.
Cheruiyot also led ECU in the 1500 meters, placing 27th in 5:09.65. She was followed closely by
Madison Ham, who finished 30th in 5:10.89.
Stephanie Ojo (39th, 5:19.38),
Sharon Jesang (44th, 5:27.04),
Brylee Baird (49th, 5:39.49), and
Cadence Carlos (54th, 5:52.23) all competed in the event, showcasing the team's depth and future potential.
In the 800 meters, Ojo again led the Tigers with a 2:28.66 for 26th place in prelims, followed by Jesang (2:39.79), Baird (2:39.90), and Carlos (2:44.59).
In the sprints,
Jolee McIntyre represented ECU in the 100-meter dash, running 13.36 to place 22nd overall in prelims.
Carli Leforce stepped up in the 400 meters, placing 16th with a solid mark of 1:03.53 in her GAC Championship debut.
The Tigers found the scoreboard in the high jump, where Lexii LeCrone cleared 1.60 meters (5'3") to tie for 8th place, earning half a point.
Kaylyn Cotner cleared 1.50m to finish 13th, while
Zoe Grooms (1.45m) and
Emily Easter rounded out the jump squad.
In the throws,
Maecee Kirtley had a best mark of 10.63m (34' 10.5") in the shot put, finishing 17th.
Abigail Jones competed in the discus, where she placed 15th with a throw of 35.97m (118' 0").
In addition to their athletic achievements,
Kaylyn Cotner and
Madison Ham were named GAC Elite Scholar Athletes for their 4.0 grade point averages.
