Soccer Falls at Home Against NSU

ADA, Okla. – After two weather-related relocations, the East Central University soccer team finally made its long-awaited debut at Tiger Soccer Field on Thursday. Despite the anticipation surrounding their first true home game, the Tigers struggled to find momentum, falling 6-0 to a sharp Northeastern State University squad.

The RiverHawks came out aggressive, striking early with a penalty kick in the 7th minute. They continued their offensive pressure with goals in the 12th, 22nd, and 32nd minutes to take a commanding 4-0 lead into halftime. NSU added two more goals in the second half, scoring in the 55th and 67th minutes to seal the win.

Offensively, ECU managed 10 shots with six in the first half and four in the second. Ximena Resendiz led the Tigers with three shots, including one on goal, while Haleigh Goodson added two shots, also landing one on target.

On the defensive end, goalkeepers Madison Mayhall and Dylan LaMonica combined for six saves on 21 total NSU shots.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, for their final non-conference matchup against Pittsburg State University. ECU will also celebrate Senior Day, honoring its seven seniors before kickoff at 1 p.m.
