Men's Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at J.D. Martin Invite
Norman, Okla. – The East Central University men's track & field team opened the 2025 indoor season with a strong showing at the 24th Annual J.D. Martin Invitational, hosted by the University of Oklahoma.
The Tigers were led by a dominant performance in the 3,000 meters, sweeping the top four finishes.
Kennedy Bett captured ECU's lone event victory with a first-place time of 8:54.45, while
Bhekizulu Khumalo followed closely in second.
Dieumerci Ufitimana placed third and
Emmanuel Kemboi finished fourth to complete the sweep.
In the sprints,
Josh Horne delivered one of ECU's top individual performances, finishing fourth in the 60 meters with a time of 6.97 after advancing from prelims. Horne also placed third in the 200 meters, clocking 22.35. In the 400 meters,
Caleb Hunter recorded a fifth-place finish in 51.65, while
Ryan Owens placed 10th and
Samuel Brown finished 15th.
Aiden Sager paced the Tigers in the middle-distance events, placing ninth in the 800 meters and 11th in the mile.
Harley Cobb finished 13th in the 800, while
Huston Holder placed 15th in the 800 and 14th in the mile.
Ladon Vance added a 13th-place finish in the mile.
In the field events,
Eddie Jennings led ECU in the long jump, finishing 10th with a mark of 6.64 meters. Gustin Snodgrass placed 12th, and
Lee Cobb finished 13th. Snodgrass also competed in the high jump and shot put, while Hunter represented ECU in the pole vault and shot put.
