Men’s Track & Field Shows Strong Performances at OU Crimson & Cream Qualifier
NORMAN, Okla. – The East Central University men's track & field team turned in an impressive showing Friday at the University of Oklahoma Crimson & Cream Qualifier in Norman, highlighted by multiple personal-best performances and strong finishes across the track and field events.
On the sprinting side,
Josh Horne led the Tigers with a standout performance in the 200 meters, posting a personal-best 22.16 to claim first place and earn 10 points. Horne also ran 6.98 in the 60-meter prelims.
Ryan Owens (7.15) and
Curtis Johnson (7.21) recorded personal bests in the 60 meters, while Owens added a PR of 23.47 in the 200 meters.
Ivan Barrientos set a PR in the 200 meters with 24.68.
In the 400 meters,
Samuel Brown finished 11th in 55.31, followed by Barrientos (57.34) and
Jeremiah Rice (57.37), who set a season best. Middle-distance runners continued to excel as
Brian Mitei placed fourth in the 800 meters with a season-best 1:57.60, scoring five points for the Tigers.
Aiden Sager,
Ladon Vance, and
Harley Cobb all posted season-best times in the 800 meters.
The mile featured another strong showing from ECU, with Donald Kipsang claiming first with a personal-best 4:22.62, scoring 10 points, and
Peter Kipkemboi finishing close behind in 4:24.24. Cobb and Vance also contributed in the mile, with Vance setting a PR of 4:54.94. In the 3000 meters, Kipkemboi finished fourth (9:12.17) while
Huston Holder placed seventh (9:54.10), adding valuable points to the team total.
The Tigers were competitive in field events as well. In the high jump,
Gustin Snodgrass cleared 1.86 meters for sixth place, scoring three points. In the long jump, Jennings set a personal best of 6.73 meters for 11th place, while
Lee Cobb and Snodgrass both posted PRs of 6.41 and 6.29 meters, respectively.
