Softball Drops Midweek Doubleheader to NSU

ADA, Okla. – The East Central University softball team dropped both games of its non-conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Tiger Softball Field, falling to Northeastern State University in Game One before coming up short again in the nightcap.

The Tigers will now turn their focus back to Great American Conference play this weekend, hosting Northwestern Oklahoma State University in a three-game series Friday and Saturday at Tiger Softball Field.

Game One | ECU 0, NSU 10
Northeastern set the tone early, opening the game with a solo home run in the first inning. The visitors broke the contest open in the second, plating six runs on a series of RBI hits, including a three-run home run to build a 7-0 advantage.

The RiverHawks added single runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to extend the lead to 10-0. ECU was unable to generate offensive momentum with only hits from Jaicee Stott and Brooklyn Charnock as Northeastern State secured the run-rule victory.

Chloe Williams took the loss in the circle, tossing 1.2 innings while allowing seven runs on five hits with two strikeouts. Bradi Odom provided relief, working 3.1 innings and giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits while striking out five.

Game Two | ECU 2, NSU 5
Northeastern State struck first in the opening inning with an RBI single, but ECU answered quickly in the bottom half. The Tigers evened the score at 1-1 after Brooklyn Charnock drew a bases-loaded walk to bring a Elyse LeClair across the plate.

The RiverHawks regained the lead in the second with a two-RBI single to go up 3-1. ECU cut the deficit to one later in the inning when Kenni Tudor launched a solo home run to left field, making it 3-2.

The game remained tight until the seventh inning, when Northeastern State added two insurance runs on a pair of RBI singles to seal the 5-2 decision and complete the doubleheader sweep.

Kenni Tudor led the Tigers at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, highlighted by her solo home run. Hannah Whitaker and Kennedy Lord each added a hit.
