Men’s Golf Open Spring Campaign with Strong Showing at Bulldog Clash

PAWLEYS, SC – The East Central University men's golf team kicked off their spring campaign at the two-day, three-round Spring Bulldog Clash, hosted by Barton College in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, on Monday and Tuesday.
 
The ECU men's golf team now shift focus to their next tournament, the Hillcat Classic, hosted by Rogers State University on March 9-10.
 
Competing against a strong field of 20 teams and 102 golfers, the Tigers finished tied for 15th (900) as a team, marking their best overall performance so far in their inaugural season since being reinstated.
 
Pablo Illescas led ECU with a stellar performance, posting a three-round total of 212 (+2) to finish tied for third overall, marking his personal best of the season.
 
Illescas put together three consistent rounds, opening the tournament with a 1-over-par 71, highlighted by three birdies. In Round 2, he followed with an even-par 70, recording two birdies to stay in contention at tied for fifth after the first 36 holes. He closed with a steady 1-over 71 in the final round, finishing the event at 2-over par and securing a share of third place.
 
Gage Tennyson finished tied for 63rd at the Spring Bulldog Clash, posting rounds of 78, 72, and 78 to finish at 18-over par for the tournament. He opened with an 8-over 78 that included two birdies. In Round 2, he responded with a steadier 2-over 72, recording three birdies in his strongest round of the event. He closed with another 8-over 78 in the final round, bringing his three-day total to 228 (+18).
 
Jackson Jones also finished the Spring Bulldog Clash tied for 63rd with rounds of 78, 74, and 76, totaling 18-over par for the tournament. He opened with an 8-over-par 78 in Round 1, recording a birdie. In Round 2, he improved to 4-over-par 74, adding two birdies and showing more consistency. He closed the tournament with a 6-over-par 76 in Round 3, carding two birdies to finish strong and secure a tie for 63rd place.
 
Gabriel Jones finished the Spring Bulldog Clash tied for 88th with rounds of 83, 76, and 76, totaling 235 (+21) for the tournament. He opened with a 13-over-par 83 in Round 1, but bounced back in Round 2, improving to 6-over-par 76 with two birdies. He closed with another 6-over-par 76 in Round 3, adding two more birdies to finish on a high note.
 
Aidan Morrison finished the Spring Bulldog Clash tied for 95th with rounds of 80, 76, and 83, totaling 239 (+25) for the tournament. He opened with a 10-over-par 80 in Round 1 but improved in Round 2, carding 6-over-par 76. He closed with an 13-over-par 83 in Round 3, with two birdies, rounding out ECU's team performance.
