Softball Clinches Series with 4-0 Shutout of Northwestern

ADA, Okla. – The East Central University softball team clinched the series victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State University with a 4-0 shutout win on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Softball Field.

With the victory, ECU improves to 3-3 in GAC play, while Northwestern drops to 1-5. The Tigers will return to action next Friday and Saturday to face Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.

After a tight start through three innings, the Tigers broke through in the fourth.

Haley Kruger put ECU on the board with an RBI single up the middle to score Sara Camplain. Moments later, Abbey Strong doubled to left center to plate Kruger, extending the lead to 2-0. The Tigers continued to capitalize as Jaicee Stott singled through the left side to bring home Strong and make it 3-0.

ECU added an insurance run in the fifth when Kenni Tudor launched a solo home run to left field, sealing the 4-0 advantage.

Kennedy Schroeder turned in a dominant performance in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits across seven innings while striking out three to secure the series-clinching win.
