Men’s Track & Field Post Strong Showing at Dean Pryor Invite

COFFEYVILLE, KS – The East Central University men's track & field team competed at the Dean Pryor Invitational on March 12, posting strong individual performances across sprints, distance, jumps, and throws.
 
Donald Kipsang led the Tigers in the distance events, claiming a first-place finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:08.96. He was joined on the podium by Peter Kipkemboi, who took third in 4:11.64, and Brian Mitei, who finished fourth in 4:12.12, giving ECU three of the top four spots in the race. Bhekizulu Khumalo, Harley Cobb, Emmanuel Kemboi, Huston Holder, and Ladon Vance all contributed solid times in the 1500m, showing the team's depth in the middle distance events.
 
In the sprints, freshman Josh Horne was a standout performer. He placed second in the 100m with a time of 10.49 and followed that with a third-place finish in the 200m in 21.24. Ryan Owens also turned in strong performances, finishing 19th in the 200m (22.38) and seventh in the 400m (51.59). Samuel Brown posted a 15th-place finish in the 400m (53.91) and competed in the 200m as well.
 
In the 400m hurdles, Ivan Barrientos finished 12th in 1:03.26, gaining valuable experience in his first collegiate season. In the 800m, Aiden Sager placed seventh in 2:03.64, while Ladon Vance finished 19th (2:11.64).
 
The Tigers also showed strength in the field events. Gustin Snodgrass placed sixth in the high jump at 1.77m and added a 13th-place finish in the long jump (6.13m). Lee Cobb finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.59m, while Eddie Jennings took ninth (6.40m). Cade Duvall contributed a 10th-place finish in the discus throw with a mark of 32.56m.
 
The ECU men also competed in the 4x100m relay, placing seventh in 43.45 with a team of Lee Cobb, Samuel Brown, Ryan Owens, and Eddie Jennings, showcasing depth across the sprint squad.
