Women’s Golf Wraps Play at Firekeeper Open
MAYETTA, KS – The East Central University women's golf team continued its spring slate at the Women's Firekeeper Open, hosted by Washburn University on March 23-24 at Firekeeper Golf Course. Competing against a 13-team field that featured several MIAA and regional programs, the Tigers battled through three rounds of play.
Leading the way for ECU was
Addison Furtick, who finished 43rd overall with a three-round total of 243 (+27). Furtick opened the tournament with an 84 (+12) before bouncing back in Round 2 with a 78 (+6), her best round of the event with three birdies. She closed with an 81 (+9) to lead the Tigers against a strong field.
Adrianna O'Daniel followed with a 62nd-place finish, posting a three-round total of 255 (+39). After a challenging opening round of 96 (+24), she bounced back with an 81 (+9) in Round 2 and capped the tournament with her best round, a 78 (+6), showing steady improvement over the final 36 holes.
Paola Gutierrez added a 71st-place finish for the Tigers, recording a three-round total of 259 (+43). She opened with an 89 (+17) in Round 1 but responded with her strongest round of the tournament in Round 2, carding an 82 (+10). Gutierrez closed with an 88 (+16), continuing to navigate a demanding course setup over the final round.
Gabby Hack placed 73rd overall with a three-round total of 261 (+45). She opened the tournament with a 91 (+19) before trimming nine strokes in Round 2 with an 82 (+10). Hack wrapped up her weekend with an 88 (+16), showing progress over the tournament.
Gracie Lasiter rounded out the Tigers' lineup with an 80th-place finish, posting a three-round total of 283 (+67). She opened with a 93 (+21) and followed with a 90 (+18) in Round 2 before closing with a 100 (+28).
The Tigers now turn their focus to the Meadowlake Invitational, set for March 29-30 in Enid, Oklahoma, hosted by Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
