Baseball Completes Series Sweep Over SWOSU with Dominant Doubleheader

ADA, Okla. – The East Central University baseball team completed the series sweep over Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday, taking both games of the doubleheader at Ken Turner Field. The Tigers secured the series with an 11-3 win in game one before shutting out the Bulldogs 4-0 in the finale.
 
With the sweep, ECU improves to 9-12 in Great American Conference play, keeping the Tigers in the mix in the conference standings. ECU will now turn its attention to a road conference series against Southern Nazarene University, set for April 2-3 in Bethany.
 
In game one, ECU broke through in the fourth inning, plating three runs to take an early lead. Joey Allen got things started with an RBI single, followed by RBI walks from Pryce Jackson and Mason Shimkus to make it 3-0.
 
SWOSU answered with two runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to one, but the Tigers quickly responded. ECU added a run on a wild pitch before Jackson delivered a two-RBI single to extend the lead to 6-2.
 
The Tigers continued to build momentum in the sixth, as Tyler Akers drove in a run with a single before Donovan Noble launched a two-run home run to push the lead to 9-2. ECU added two more runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach, cruising to an 11-3 victory in the opener.
 
Donovan Noble led the ECU offense with four hits and three RBIs, powering the Tigers at the plate. Tyler Akers added two hits and two RBIs, while Pryce Jackson contributed two hits and three RBIs of his own. Max Tremblay, Ryan Strickland, Mason Shimkus, and Joey Allen each added key hits, helping ECU put together an 11-run performance.
 
Holden Conner got the start for ECU, working 4.1 innings while allowing just two runs on five hits and striking out five. Andrew Black followed in relief, earning the win with 2.2 innings of one-run ball, allowing only one hit while recording two strikeouts. Easton Riddle closed out the game with two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out one, helping seal the 11-0 victory for the Tigers.
 
In game two, ECU wasted no time getting on the board, scoring twice in the first inning. Ryan Strickland opened the scoring with an RBI single before Joey Allen followed with an RBI double to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
 
The Tigers added to their advantage in the fourth inning, as Cooper McCage drove in a run with a single and Tyler Akers followed with an RBI double to extend the lead to 4-0.
 
Caleb Peek was dominant on the mound in game two, going a full seven innings while allowing just three hits and no runs. He struck out six and kept the Bulldogs off balance throughout, helping ECU secure the 4-0 shutout to complete the series sweep.
 
Tyler Akers and Ryan Strickland led the ECU offense with two hits and an RBI, while Max Tremblay added two hits of his own. Joey Allen chipped in with a key RBI, and Pryce Jackson also had a hit to help the Tigers build an early lead in the 4-0 win.
