Men’s Track & Field Earn Four Podium Finishes at OBU Invitational
SHAWNEE, Okla. – The East Central University men's track & field team delivered a solid weekend at the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational in Shawnee, highlighted by multiple top-three finishes and strong performances across the board.
The Tigers were led by standout distance performances from
Donald Kipsang, who placed second in both the 1500 meters (3:57.21) and 5000 meters (15:00.94). Fellow distance runner
Bhekizulu Khumalo added a third-place finish in the 5000 meters (15:06.56), while
Brian Mitei placed fourth in the 1500 meters (4:00.14).
On the track,
Josh Horne turned in one of the top sprint performances of the meet, finishing second in the 200 meters (21.04) and seventh in the 100 meters (10.57).
Ryan Owens also impressed, placing ninth in the 400 meters (50.10) and adding a time of 22.77 in the 200 meters.
In distance events,
Emmanuel Kemboi (15:39.92) and
Huston Holder (17:06.84) competed in the 5000 meters, while Harley Hobbs ran 4:11.47 in the 1500 meters.
Aiden Sager posted a 2:02.34 in the 800 meters and 23.82 in the 200 meters, and
Ladon Vance competed in both the 800 (2:08.55) and 1500 meters (4:22.57).
Additional sprint efforts included
Aiden Sager (23.82) and
Ivan Barrientos, who ran 24.59 in the 200 meters, 1:04.90 in the 400-meter hurdles, and also competed in the sprints.
In the field events,
Lee Cobb recorded one of the top finishes for ECU, placing fourth in the triple jump (13.96m) while also posting a mark of 6.09 meters in the long jump.
Eddie Jennings followed with a 6.74-meter jump in the long jump, while
Gustin Snodgrass recorded 6.43 meters in the long jump and cleared 1.80 meters in the high jump.
Also in the field events,
Cade Duvall competed in both the javelin (33.96m) and discus (33.29m).
