Women's Track & Field Deliver Balanced Performance at John Jacobs Invitational
NORMAN, Okla. – The East Central University women's track and field team turned in a solid performance at the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman on April 10, highlighted by multiple scoring finishes and strong efforts across both track and field events.
Leading the way for the Tigers was
Mercy Kibiwott, who earned a third-place finish in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:23.81, pacing ECU's distance group.
In the field events,
Kalese Anderson delivered one of the top performances of the meet, placing fourth in the triple jump (10.57m) and adding a ninth-place finish in the long jump (5.40m) to score in both events.
The Tigers also saw a strong showing in the high jump, where
Zoe Grooms and
Jazmine White each cleared 1.58m to tie for sixth place, while Lexii LeCrone added a ninth-place finish (1.53m).
On the track,
Macee Hall recorded a scoring performance in the hurdles, placing eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.64).
In the sprints,
Haley Ellison led ECU with a 12.61 finish in the 100 meters, while also competing in the 200 meters (26.64) and long jump.
Chloe Tatum (26.78) and
Jordan Blades (27.06) added depth in the 200 meters.
Tatum also paced the Tigers in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.55, followed by
Destiny Jennings (1:03.50) and Isabel Gabbert (1:03.76).
In distance competition,
Stephanie Ojo posted a 5:18.94 mark in the 1500 meters.
The Tigers will look to build on this performance as they continue their outdoor season in the coming weeks.
