Women’s Track Posts Strong Performances, White Headlines with Record-Breaking Jump
DENTON, Texas – The East Central University women's track & field team competed at the Bill Schmidt Invite, hosted by the University of North Texas, on Friday and Saturday, turning in another strong weekend highlighted by multiple top-five finishes and historic performances.
Leading the way for the Tigers was freshman
Jazmine White, who delivered a standout performance in the high jump, placing third overall with a mark of 1.68m (5'6"). The leap marked an NCAA qualifying standard, making her just the second female track & field athlete in ECU history to reach that mark, joining Anna Mora (2019, 10K). White's jump also set a new program record, surpassing the previous mark of 1.60m set last season, and currently ranks her among the top jumpers in the GAC, sitting fifth in the conference while joining a select group of conference athletes to hit the NCAA standard this year.
In the high jump, ECU saw multiple athletes place near the top, with
Lexii Lecrone recording a personal-best mark of 1.62m to finish fifth, followed by
Zoe Grooms in seventh (1.56m) and Isabel Gabbert in eighth (1.53m, PB).
Kalese Anderson also turned in a top performance, finishing fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.44m (17'10.25").

Chloe Tatum added solid efforts in both the 200m (26.24) and 400m (1:04.23), while
Jordan Blades and White also competed in the 200m.
In the sprints, Ellison led the Tigers in the 100m prelims (12.99), followed by White (13.71).
