Softball Drops Series Finale to SNU Despite Offensive Effort

ADA, Okla. – The East Central University softball team closed out its series against Southern Nazarene University on Friday, falling 7-1 at Tiger Softball Field.

Despite outhitting the Crimson Storm 8-7, the Tigers were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving runners stranded throughout the contest.

Southern Nazarene jumped out to an early lead, plating two runs in the first inning before adding two more in the second to take a 4-0 advantage.

The Crimson Storm extended their lead in the third with a two-RBI double, pushing the score to 6-0.

ECU answered in the bottom half of the third when Hannah Whitaker drove in the Tigers' lone run with a sacrifice fly, scoring Elyse LeClair.

SNU added an insurance run in the fourth, and ECU was unable to generate further offense as Southern Nazarene secured the 7-1 victory.

The Tigers will now turn its attention to a non-conference matchup, traveling to face Newman University on Tuesday, April 7 for a doubleheader.

Offensively, Elyse LeClair led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the plate. Abbey Strong added two hits, while Kennedy Lord and Sara Camplain each contributed a hit.

In the circle, Kennedy Schroeder went the distance, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits over seven innings while recording one strikeout.
