ADA, Okla. — East Central University soccer opened Great American Conference play Wednesday night at Tiger Soccer Field, hosting Harding University for its first conference matchup of the 2026 season. The Tigers fell 4-0 to the Bisons after Harding built a four-goal advantage in the opening half.
Harding controlled much of the early action, firing off several shots before breaking through in the 26th minute to take a 1-0 lead. ECU continued to look for opportunities of its own, with
Makaiah Carlson,
Estrella Hernandez and
Sophie Maldonado recording shots early in the half.
Sofia Flores later put a shot on goal that was saved, while
Melieah Hinnant added two more attempts.
Ava Jordan also put a shot on goal late in the half, but it was turned away by the Harding goalkeeper.
The Bisons then broke the match open late in the half, scoring three times in a five-minute span. Harding added goals in the 39th, 40th and 43rd minutes to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.
ECU settled in defensively after the break, limiting Harding's offensive opportunities compared to the first half and holding the Bisons scoreless throughout the second half. The Tigers were unable to generate many scoring chances of their own, recording just two shots after halftime, as Harding maintained its four-goal advantage through the final whistle. Hernandez and Jordan took the shots, but were saved by the Bison keeper.
The Bisons finished with a 29-9 advantage in shots, including a 14-5 edge in shots on goal. Harding also held a 13-2 advantage in corner kicks, while ECU goalkeepers
Alexandra Naill and
Parker Frei each recorded 5 saves in the contest.
The Tigers will continue GAC play at home on Saturday, Sept. 19, hosting Ouachita Baptist University at 2 p.m. in Ada.
