Women’s Cross Country Opens Season with Aggie Duels Victory
LAWTON, Okla. – The East Central University women's cross country team got its 2026 season off to a strong start Friday, earning a first-place finish at the Aggie Duels hosted by Cameron University in Lawton. The Tigers totaled 30 points to come out on top of the six-team field.
Joyce Kemboi set the pace for ECU from the start, claiming the individual title in the 5K with a time of 17:06.5.
Sharon Jemeli gave the Tigers another top-two finish, crossing the line second at 17:49.9, while
Winnie Kipsang added a fourth-place finish with a time of 18:46.2.
ECU's depth continued to shine as
Victaline Mutai and
Stephanie Ojo completed the Tigers' scoring lineup, placing 11th and 12th, respectively. Mutai finished in 19:16.4, followed by Ojo at 19:29.8.
Lindsey Mauppin also competed for the Tigers, finishing 34th with a time of 20:55.3.
The Tigers will return to action on Saturday, Sep. 19 at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, Missouri.
