ECU Athletics Hall of Fame Nomination Form
 
Oversight and Responsibility
  • Upon recommendation from the Director of Athletics, Dr. Jeff Williams, President Katricia Pierson charged the University Athletic Committee (UAC), a standing committee with members appointed by the ECU Faculty Senate, to oversee the organization, structure and implementation of the ECU Athletic Hall of Fame
  • The historic structure of the Hall of Fame utilized in past years and known as the “Athletic Alumni Association” was reviewed and adapted into the updated and re-launched ECU Athletic Hall of Fame
  • The ECU Alumni Association serves as the umbrella organization for individual memberships and group “Affiliated Membership Organizations”
  • Athletic Alumni is now an affiliated group of the ECU Alumni Association
  • Two Officers of this affiliate group will have representation in the process
 
Nominations
  • The Hall of Fame nomination form is accessible on the ECU Tigers Athletics website
  • Open Nominations may be submitted at any time by anyone
  • There is no nomination deadline, but an annual work plan that leads to annual induction
  • Nominations will be vetted by the Athletic Communications office for confirmation and placed in the “Nominee Queue”
  • Once a nominee is placed into the Queue, the Director of Athletics will confer with the President to ensure a nominee is appropriate to carry forward in the process
  • The University Athletic Committee, as part of its regular meetings, review the “Nominee Queue” and confirm names to be placed onto the voting ballot once thoroughly vetted and considered a finalist for induction into the Hall of Fame
 
Hall of Fame Committee
  • The Hall of Fame Committee will be a sub-committee of the standing UAC
  • Their purpose will be to propose a slate of annual inductees for approval by the ECU President
  • The Chair of the Subcommittee will be the Director of Athletics, who is an ex-officio member of the UAC (non-voting member)
  • The duties of the Chair will be to report back to the UAC at scheduled meetings the status, progress and timeline of activities related to the Hall of Fame each year
  • Additionally, the Chair will call regular meetings of the Hall of Fame subcommittee
  • The structure of the Hall of Fame Committee will reflect representation as follows:
    • Two members from the UAC
    • ECU Women’s Sports (Former or Current Head Coach)
    • ECU Men’s Sports (Former or Current Head Coach)
    • ECU Sport “At Large” (Former or Current Head Coach)
    • ECU Athletic Alumni Association (Male Officer)
    • ECU Athletic Alumni Association (Female Officer)
Balloting & Voting
  • Selection for induction will be done from the Nominee Queue annually
  • Each induction class for the Hall of Fame will be required to reflect diversity
 
Target Dates of Annual Work Plan
 
January 31 - Nominee Queue Closes (Nominations submitted after date goes into next year)
 
March 1 - Nominee Queue Confirmed by Athletic Communications
 
April 1 - Nominee Queue Reviewed & Confirmed by ECU President
 
May 1 - Hall of Fame Selection Committee Presents Induction Class to UAC or approval
 
June 1 - Hall of Fame Notifies Inductees and Confirms acceptance (or alternates)
 
October - Home Game Date selected for Hall of Fame Weekend
