Eric Towsley joins the ECU Tigers as GA coach for the 2023 baseball season.
Towsley comes as the Bo Duren Award recipient for the ECU Tigers Baseball Team of 2022. Eric was a baseball player who did “whatever it takes” for the team. A true utility player for ECU for the last three years, playing every position he was asked, from pitching to catching, infield, and outfield.
In his final collegiate season (2022), he played 19 games at 1B and 20 games as catcher; Hitting 4 HR’s, 6 doubles, 3 triples, and 23 RBI’s for his final season.
Before ECU, Eric achieved his AS Applied Sciences from Columbia Basin College, Pasco, Washington. The sophomore catcher led the Hawks taking second place finish in the Northwest Athletic East Conference. He averaged .333 and .328 in two junior college seasons, ranked 4th in the State among Catchers.
Prior to accepting the GA position, during the Summer 2022, he played for St-Jean sur Richelieu Pirates Ligue de Baseball Majeur du Quebec in Canada as starting SS, closing pitcher, catcher. During the playoffs, he hit .355, led the league in doubles and RBI’s, propelling the team into a game 6 of semi-finals. He even pitched as a closer in three games, winning two. He also walked off one game with a two-run homer.
Summer baseball also has been very fortuitous. Played D-Bat Summer Collegiate League Oklahoma City 2019 & 2020, Award Top Honors Summer 2019 DBAT Collegiate League Oklahoma Summer League with .398 batting average. DBAT Collegiate League Oklahoma, Championship Runner-up in 2019 and 2020. Played with Wellington Heat in the Summer 2021, Jayhawk Collegiate League, hitting .250, primarily starting 2nd base, SS, and 3rd, Wellington, Kansas 2021.
