Floyd Ross

Floyd Ross enters his first year as Director of Strength & Conditioning beginning the summer of 2026.

Ross has been a member of the ECU strength & conditioning staff since 2021 and most recently served as Interim Director of Strength & Conditioning beginning in March 2026, where he managed the department's daily operations, led training sessions, and maintained continuity across ECU's athletic performance programs.
 
Prior to the interim role, Ross served as Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning beginning in November 2025, overseeing multiple NCAA Division II athletic programs while designing sport-specific strength and conditioning plans focused on athlete performance, injury reduction, and movement efficiency. In addition to his strength & conditioning responsibilities, Ross has served as ECU's Head Powerlifting Coach since August 2024, coaching and programming for more than 15 athletes while leading recruitment efforts and fostering team culture development.
 
Ross originally joined the ECU strength staff as a Student Assistant from 2021-2024 before being promoted to Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach in August 2024. In that role, he worked directly with football, baseball, and softball athletes while also leading onboarding and orientation efforts for nine ECU athletic teams.

Ross is a USAPL Level 1 Coach with experience in strength and conditioning program design and sprint mechanics development.

Ross competed as a collegiate powerlifter for ECU during the 2023-24 season while continuing his internship under Coach Garza, earning an 11th-place finish at the USAPL Collegiate Nationals. He first joined ECU as a student intern under former Director of Strength and Conditioning Scott O’Dell from 2021-22, gaining valuable experience in both strength and conditioning and powerlifting.

A two-time East Central University graduate, Ross earned his Master’s in Sports Administration in December 2025 with a 4.0 GPA after completing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in May 2024. The Waxahachie, Texas, Ross graduated from Waxahachie High School in 2020 before coming to ECU on a football scholarship. 

Through his passion for athletics, strength training, and student-athlete development, Ross has become a valuable member of ECU’s strength and conditioning staff.
