Erik Solberg

Erik Solberg joined the East Central University soccer team as an assistant coach for the 2014 season after spending a year at Nicholls State.
 
Solberg was a volunteer assistant at Nicholls State, where he helped the Colonels to a 12-6-2 record in 2013.  During the 2013-14 season he was also served as the head boys’ soccer coach at Ponchatoula High School and the U12 St. Charles Soccer Club team, which won the Louisiana State Cup in 2014.
 
The Chicago, Ill., native was member of the Ole Miss and Southeastern Louisiana track and field teams.  Solberg earned two letters at Ole Miss in track and cross country before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies in 2012.  He then completed his athletic eligibility at Southeastern Louisiana while pursuing a master’s degree in business administration.
 
Solberg earned academic honors at both schools, earning Southland Conference Academic Honor Roll and SEC Academic Honor Roll accolades.  While at Ole Miss he also played midfield for the school’s club soccer team, where he was also responsible for coordinating, planning and coaching practices.
 
A High School All-American, Solberg was inducted into Buffalo Grove High School’s Hall of Fame after a sixth place finish in the 2000-meter steeplechase at the 2007 USATF National Youth Track and Field Championships. He was also on the 2003 USATF National Junior Olympic team champion in cross country.
 
Formerly a violinist in the Lafayette-Oxford-University Orchestra, Solberg served on the leadership teams at Ole Miss and SLU for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
 
The Arlington Heights, Ill., native holds a NSCAA National Diploma and NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sports administration at ECU.
