Odalys Gonzalez was announced as East Central University volleyball's first full-time assistant coach, marking a historic step forward for ECU volleyball as the team prepares for the 2025 season.Â
A proud Tiger alumna, Gonzalez returns to Ada after playing a pivotal role in one of the most successful stretches in ECU Volleyball history. During her senior season in 2024, she helped lead the Tigers to a record-setting 18 wins, the program's highest single-season win total, and its best Great American Conference tournament seeding (No. 3) since 2013. Her impact extended far beyond the stat sheet as she helped set new team and individual benchmarks that have raised expectations for the program moving forward.Â
Gonzalez began her collegiate career at Coastal Bend College in Texas, where she made history as the first player in program history to eclipse both 500 career kills and 500 digs. She was a two-time All-Region XIV Second Team selection and finished her career as CBC's all-time kills leader with 966.Â
She transferred to ECU in 2023 and immediately made an impact. Gonzalez was a back-to-back All-GAC selection, earning Second Team honors in 2023 and First Team recognition in 2024. Over two seasons, she played in all 58 matches, finishing with 779 kills and 879.5 total points to rank sixth all-time in both categories at ECU. She also recorded 30 career double-doubles, placing her fourth in school history.Â
Originally from Brownsville, Texas, Gonzalez earned her associate degree from Coastal Bend College in 2022 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from East Central University in 2025.Â
