ADA – The East Central University volleyball team fell to league-leading Arkansas Tech 0-3 (19-25, 20-25, 19-25) in the Kerr Activities Center and Great American Conference action.

The teams traded serves at the opening of the first set with three ties in the first eight serves. However, after a four-all tie, the Golden Suns (14-5, 6-1 GAC) pushed ahead, with a 3-0 run, for a 4-7 advantage. ATU increased the lead to as many as seven and kept the pressure up until they led 18-24. ECU was able to hold off two set points, but fell 19-25.
The second set was closer with seven tie scores and one lead change, with the final tie coming at 15-all. That is when the Golden Suns used a 7-1 run to take control of the set (16-22). The teams traded points again and ATU was leading 18-24 when the Tigers were able to rally to hold off three set points before falling 20-25.
The third set opened with a 0-3 run by the Golden Suns and they never let ECU get closer than one or two points the rest of the set. The lead had grown to eight (15-23) when freshman
Taylor Turner helped the Tigers go on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 19-23. However, two errors gave ATU the set and match win 19-25.
ECU will now get ready for a non-conference battle with Cameron, Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. The match will be the third of five-straight at the Kerr Activities Center for the Tigers.
