Box Score ARKADELPHIA, ARK. – The East Central University baseball team fell 3-14 in the first of three games against Ouachita Baptist in the first Great American Conference game of the 2014 season.

The Tigers (2-5, 0-1 GAC) saw two hits by juniors
Luc Pomales and
Ariel Adut, with Pomales adding one run and one RBI. Junior
Lucas Kaplan threw the first four innings on the game and suffered the loss. Kaplan allowed nine hits, 11 runs and struck out five batters.
ECU was out-hit 10-13 by OBU and recorded three errors to one by Ouachita Baptist.
OBU opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning with six runs for the early lead.
The Tigers responded in the top of the fourth, with one run to cut the disadvantage to 1-6. Junior
Nick Spini led off the inning with a single up the middle and was advanced to second on a single by Pomales to right field. After the second out of the inning, junior
Bryce McKee sent Spini home with a single to right field.
Ouachita Baptist added two more runs in the top of the fourth for a 1-8 lead.
ECU again scored one run in the top of the fifth on a two-out home run by junior
Garrett Donohoe.
OBU continued to push the game with three runs in the fifth for a 2-11 lead.
The Tigers added one more run in the top of the sixth on a home run from Pomales. However, Ouachita Baptist added three more runs in the top of the sixth for the 3-14 final.
The teams will continue the series, Saturday, Feb. 15 with a double-header scheduled to begin at noon.
