The East Central University women's basketball team will continue its 2013-14 season at the 2014 Great American Conference Tournament, March 6-9 in Bartlesville, Okla. The Lady Tigers earned the No. 2 seed in the field of eight teams and will face No. 7 Southern Arkansas, Friday, March 7 at 2:15 p.m. in the opening round of games. A win would put ECU in the 5:45 p.m. semifinal game, Saturday, March 8.
Game Notes
The Broadcast
ECU's radio home for Lady Tigers basketball in 2013-14 is Ada's KXFC, 105.5, FM 'The X-Factor'. Kenny Morrison returns to broadcast the games for his 17th season. Morrison, a 1987 ECU graduate, spent two seasons doing color prior to taking over the play-by-play duties during the 1997-98 season.

Scouting Southern Arkansas
The Lady Muleriders are 12-14 overall and 8-12 in the GAC after winning their last game of the regular-season. However, SAU had lost the previous four outings.
The Lady Muleriders have a -4.9 scoring and +0.9 rebounding margin for the season. SAU has a .384 team shooting percentage and allowed a .401 mark. They have a bigger disadvantage from beyond the arc, where they hit just 26.1 percent of their shots and allow a .314 mark, while shooting over 100 more attempts. Another area where the Lady Muleriders have a larger number is in turnovers at 21.3 per game, however their opponents commit 21.8 per game.
Chanel Miller is the only member of the team averaging over 10 points per game, with 15.6 per outing. Miller adds 4.7 rebounds per game and a .449 shooting percentage. Barvion Wyatt is next on the points list, with 7.5 per game and 5.1 boards per outing.
Against the Lady Muleriders
Each team won the game that was contested on their home court this season in the ECU/SAU series. The Lady Tigers fell 83-84 in overtime in Magnolia and then rebounded for a 74-59 win at the Kerr Activities Center.
Senior
Ashley Robison led ECU in the series with 20.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. She shot .522 from the field and .526 from three-point range. Senior
Alycea Price added 14 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, with redshirt freshman
Jalyn Jackson tallied 12 boards per outing.
Chanel Miller led the Lady Muleriders, with 18 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Barvion Wyatt added 16 points and four boards, while Miranda Grier contributed 11.5 points per game.
The Series
After the last win, the Lady Tigers hold a 7-4 advantage in the all-time series, with Friday's game being the first in the post-season between the two teams.
In the Tournament
ECU has gone 1-2 in the GAC Tournament in the first two seasons, going 1-1 in 2012-13 and 0-1 in 2011-12. Last year, the Lady Tigers defeated Ouachita Baptist and fell to Arkansas Tech in the semifinals, while in 2011-12 they fell to Southwestern Oklahoma State in the opening round.

Dilan Webster led ECU last season in post-season play. She averaged 15 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while senior
Ashley Robison contributed 11.5 points and six boards per game.
In 2011-12 Robison tallied seven points and rebounds against SWOSU, while Webster added eight points and three boards.
All-GAC Teams
The Lady Tigers saw two players make the 2013-14 All-GAC teams. Senior
Alycea Price earned All-GAC Second Team honors after averaging 12.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Price finished the season ranked No. 6 in rebounds per game in the GAC. Junior
Dilan Webster was also honored as an All-GAC Honorable Mention pick. Webster averaged 10.8 points and 6.2 boards per game. She also added 1.0 blocks per game, to be ranked No. 4 in the GAC.
Rebounding Robison
Senior
Ashley Robison recently became the Lady Tigers all-time rebounding leader, with her 732 boards to date. She surpassed Gina Farmer (1995-97), who tallied 680 in her two-year career.
Making the Tournament
For the third-straight season the Lady Tigers will be competing in the GAC Tournament, after securing a spot with the win over UAM. The Lady Tigers and the rest of the teams from the league will start the tournament with a community service project, as they will be going bowling with the Special Olympians in the area, Thursday, March 6.
Taking Down the Top Teams
The Lady Tigers were the first team to hand then-No. 6 Harding a loss in the 2013-14 season when they earned a 61-60 overtime victory. The win marked the first time since Jan. 14, 2012 that ECU had beaten a ranked opponent. The last time saw ECU down then-No. 1 Arkansas Tech (74-65) at the Kerr Activities Center.
Price Stepping Up
Senior
Alycea Price has had a strong this season. The Houston, Texas native hit the game-winning shot against No. 6 Harding (Jan. 25) in overtime and then tallied a career-best 19 points in the win over Henderson State (Jan. 30). She then added a new career best of 24 points against Southern Nazarene (Feb. 20). Price is averaging 12.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this season for the Lady Tigers.
Tucker Chiming In
Senior
Alex Tucker has started all 16 games this season for the Lady Tigers and was a key disher of assists until the game at Southeastern Oklahoma State. Tucker stepped up her game and tallied a career-best 15 points, while adding one rebounds, two assists and one block and steal.
Jackson Grabbing the Boards
Redshirt freshman
Jalyn Jackson has been pulling in the rebounds for the Lady Tigers this season, recording 10 or more rebounds in four games so far. The Oklahoma City, Okla., native had a career-best 17 boards at Southern Arkansas, which included 11 offensive boards. She also added 17 against Southwestern (12 offensive), 10 at Harding (six offense) and 10 against Northwestern (eight offense).
Garza Making A Splash
Redshirt junior
Janee Garza had an outstanding game for the Lady Tigers against Southern Arkansas. The Murphy, Texas, native tallied a career-high 15 points, hitting 5-of-11 shots from beyond the arc.
Walling Wowing
Junior
Erin Walling has been improving all season and had one of the best games of her career against the Evangels. Walling tallied a career-high 22 points, with career-highs of six field goals and seven free throws.
Robison Crashing the Glass
Senior
Ashley Robison had a strong rebounding effort against Mid-American Christian. The Tulsa, Okla., native tallied a career-best 18 rebounds, two offensive and 16 defensive. Robison also added 10 points for her first double-double of the season.
Winning Start
The Lady Tigers started 4-0, marking the third time ECU has started 4-0. The last time was 1989-90. The Lady Tigers have started a season 4-0 twice (1989-90/1987-88), 5-0 in 2001-02 and 7-0 twice (1995-96/1984-85).
Home Sweet Home
The Kerr Activities Center was very busy in November, with the Lady Tigers hosting the first five games of the season at home. This marks the first time since 1984-85 that ECU has played five-straight home games to start a season. That season, the Lady Tigers went 7-0 to start, while ECU is already 3-0 in 2013-14.
